ABOUT NADIA Sesay

Merging her avid passion for contemporary art with an unyielding love of travel, Nadia Sesay founded BLANC Modern Africa as a platform for the exploration of art and culture from Africa and its global diaspora.

Nadia was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone and grew up in Washington, DC. A childhood spent exploring the many Smithsonian museums in DC sparked Nadia's early interest in art. This upbringing, which offered exposure to both African and Western cultures, inspires the editorial focus of BLANC Modern Africa.

Prior to launching BLANC Modern Africa Nadia was a contributing writer to multiple platforms focused on the reportage of art and culture from Africa and the Diaspora. Her writing has been featured on Afribuku, a Spanish language magazine on contemporary African art. She also contributed an essay to an exhibition catalogue of MACAAL in Marrakech, Morocco.

In testament to her interest in exploring the intersections of art, design, and global contemporary culture, Nadia has studied a range of disciplines, including international business, interior design, and contemporary art and art business, at George Washington University, Corcoran College of Art & Design, and Sotheby's Institute of Art, respectively.
